Mission
The Northwestern State Demon Regiment (NDR) is an organization of the alumni of the Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) at Northwestern State University of Louisiana (NSU). The mission of NDR is to enhance the ability of the NSU Military Science department to recruit, train and commission high caliber NSU students as future officer leaders of the U.S. Army by promoting the exciting NDR heritage and affording every comissionee the chance to add their own legacy.
Organization
Organized like an Army Regiment, the NDR Battalions will be numbered consecutively beginning with the class of 1951 as the 1st Battalion, Northwestern Demon Regiment. The class of 2009 is the 59th Battalion, Northwestern Demon Regiment and next year's class is the 60th Battalion, Northwestern Demon Regiment. This approach offers ROTC alumni and former cadets the opportunity to reconnect with classmates as well as encourage current cadets to enhance the image and reputation of NSU Army ROTC.
Leadership Structure
The NDR is led by the Honorary Colonel of Regiment (HCOR), supported by a four-person team of honorary officers. Each member of the team is a distinguished alumnus and a member of the NSU ROTC Hall of Fame. Each member of the team is supported by a working-level functionary who resides in the local Natchitoches area. These functionaries, together with the current Professor of Military Science, form the Senior Leadership Team that manages the day-to-day activities of the NDR.

Goals/Strategies
1. Alumni Database & Correspondence- The 1st goal of the NDR is informing all former cadets and ROTC Alumni about the NDR and building a strong database correspondence. We are building a visible record of every graduate of the NSU ROTC program and to complete this display, you can help by sending us your information. To accomplish this goal the regiment is seeking assistant adjutants to represent each decade of NDR alumni.
2. Regimental Ball- The 2nd goal of the NDR is to plan and organize an annual regimental ball and awards ceremony. This event also serves as an annual gathering of NSU Alumni and cadets as well as being the capstone event of the year. The 3rd Annual Regimental Ball will be held on March 12, 2011 in the Friedman Student Union ballroom. Please make plans to attend every year.
3. Military Science Financial Support- The 3rd goal of the NDR is to raise funds to support the cadets of the NSU ROTC program. We are proud to announce that our "60 for 60" campaign was a great success! We raised $60,000 in private funds from our alumni and friends. With a $40,000 match from the state of Louisiana, we created at $100,000 endowed professorship in Military Science. Interest accrued from the endowment will be used by the Professor of Military Science to support cadets and cadet activities. This support includes, but is not limited to cadet scholarships, basic and adventure training expenses, training equipment, supplies and materials.
We have pledged ongoing financial support to the cadets and look forward to helping them re-equip the Black Knights Drill Team. We also need support for the day-to-day operations of the NDR and to help offset the costs of the annual Regimental Ball. Click here to help us continue our support of the cadets.
