Chesapeake Energy Gift to Provide Scholarships to Five Students

Chesapeake Energy has created scholarships for five students with a gift of $5,000.

“We are appreciative of Chesapeake Energy’s willingness to support higher education and Northwestern,” said Northwestern State University President Dr. Randall J. Webb. “I can think of no better way for a company like Chesapeake Energy to show it is a good corporate citizen than to help five worthy students continue their education.”

Students receiving the Chesapeake Energy Scholarship must be either a sophomore or junior with a grade point average of at least 2.75 and will receive $500 in the fall and spring semesters.

“Through our support of education, we are committed to providing leadership as a responsible corporate citizen and dedicated community advocate," said Kevin McCotter, Chesapeake's Director of Corporate Development. "Northwestern State University does a great job in serving the students of Louisiana by providing opportunities to young people interested in pursuing life goals through higher education.  Chesapeake is proud to support these efforts in any way possible."

Headquartered in Oklahoma City, Chesapeake Energy is one of the largest producers of natural gas in the nation and the most active driller of new wells in the U.S. The company is active in the Haynesville Shale of East Texas and northwestern Louisiana.
