To celebrate his 92nd birthday on May 12, Dr. Harry Briggs will swim two miles in Kincaid Lake and throw a party to raise money for the Dora Douglas Briggs Nursing and Radiologic Sciences Endowed Scholarship, named after his wife. Known as "The Paddlin' Professor," Briggs was the first person to swim across Lake Erie in 1947. He is a political science instructor at Northwestern State University's Leesville/Fort Polk campus.
